One thing is for sure, if you are in Skellefteå this summer you will have plenty of options when you need to cool off. How about 1,500 lakes, five rivers, a 300 kilometre coastline and several temperate outdoor baths? The longest sandy beach can be found at Bjuröklubb. Well, all of theese might not be outright bathing spots, but the truth is that Skellefteå´s long sandy beaches, hot seacliffs and high bathing temperatures make this place a real sun- and swimming destination.
Fill your picknick basket with some goodies, some bath towels and maybe a parasoll and explore Skellefteå´s waters.
1. Byske havsbad
A classic among beach bums and sun worshippers. A long, lovely, sandy beach , a fun playground and just next door tho oe of Swedish Lapland´s five-star campsites. This means that you will find everythng you need here in terms of food, beverages and activities- and also, the temperate outdoor pools.

2. Bovikens havsbad
Seven kilometres north of Skellefteå is the family friendly, shallow bay, Boviken. There are several barbecue sites and playground near the beach, changing rooms, toilets and a really sandy beach volleyball court.

Bjuröklubb is not just one of the most popular places to visit in Skellefteå, it is also home to the longest sandy sea beach in Swedish Lapland. The sand is light and fine-grained, always finding its way between your toes. On a calm day, you could easily think you were actually at a latitude far further south.

In the middle of the little village, Sjöbotten, is the alluring Sjöbottensand, a sandy beach, very popular not least with families with children. There are also sparkling clean toilets and and icecream stand!

Falkträsket ner the city offers a clean sandy seabed and the beach is covered by a soft, green lawn. Lying so close to the city, Falkträsket is a very popular place for late night dips after long, hot summer days.

Shallow, children friendly sea bay with a lovely sandy seabed, less than a kilometre east of the community of Bureå. The sand is pleasantly fine-grained and there is a vollyball court and a changing room.

Sandy beach by the sea near Söderbodan, east of Ostvik. The bathing place is not too shallow and it is quite well protected from cold northern winds. An obvious summer favourite.

Långnäset is one of the largest lake beaches in Swedish Lapland and it is a very child friendly bathing place. Shallow and very well suited to do all kinds of beach activities. Långnäset lies one kilometre outside the village of Bodbysund, towards Skellefteå.
