In the spring, the Ostträsket Nature Reserve is one of Norrland’s premier premises to see resting geese. When the first ground barque appear in the snow, the first geese usually arrive.
From mid-April and a month ahead, bean goose, greylag goose and canada goose gather here for hundreds. Together with resting cranes and swans, the number of birds sometimes amounts to over a thousand individuals who at the same time have taken a break in their migration to the breeding sites north and west.
