For the third consecutive year, Sámien vahkkuo Jyörasne is being organized—a week filled with lectures, inspiration, facts, films, food, and much more. Most events take place at Jyöran girjjievuarkka – Jörn Library.
Come and learn more about Sámi culture, which has always been an integral part of both Jyörra – Jörn and the coastal municipalities of Västerbotten. Discover Sámi place names in the area, explore the indigenous Ume Sámi language and its role in church life, learn about the Forest Sámi elements in Sara Lidman’s novels, get book recommendations from Sámi authors, and, of course, enjoy both beäbmuo – food and svarggaldahkka – coffee.
