Digital author talk - Vinthundarna

Jörn's library, Skellefteå

At Jörn's Library, you can see ten authors divided into six author talks shown on our projector screen during the spring of 2025, via Library Play, which is a streaming service from Stockholm City Library. See below.

The author talks are recorded from Malmö City Library and today you will meet Vinthundarna, "The Greyhounds", Sara Stridsberg, Jenny Tunedal, Malin Nord, Linda Örtenblad och Gertrud Hellbrand. The conversation is held in Swedish.

From 1998 to 2000, Sara Stridsberg, Jenny Tunedal, Malin Nord, Linda Örtenblad, and Gertrud Hellbrand attended the writer's program at Biskops Arnö Folk High School, and together they became the core of the writer's group Vinthundarna (The Greyhounds).

However, Vinthundarna extended far beyond the written word on the page and also functioned as a kind of executive committee within the anonymous collective S.K.A.M., which worked to dismantle patriarchy's power over literature.

For several years, they published manifestos, edited journals, organized alternative award shows, and hosted other events. They performed readings in bikinis and ape masks. All of this was done with the goal of "liberating the Easter witches and intellectual whores of literature from isolation in a domineering literary public."

A quarter-century has passed since the collective was formed. The members of Vinthundarna have all debuted, each with some reference to a greyhound woven into their debut works, and are now celebrated authors. But the feminist struggle they championed has, during this time, faced recurring backlash.

Now, 25 years later, Vinthundarna reunite on the Authors' Stage to discuss this, how the collective influenced their writing, and where they stand today both aesthetically and politically.
